EmergencyCall nowFood

Especially affected animals: Dog, Cat

Why it is dangerous

Excessive salt intake disrupts the body's salt-water balance. Homemade play dough, ornaments made from salt dough, large amounts of seawater, and road salt are the main sources. In severe cases, the nervous system can be affected.

Possible signs

  • Excessive drinking and frequent urination
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Staggering
  • Tremors
  • Seizures

What to do

Remove any remaining product and call a veterinarian immediately. Never use salt to induce vomiting; this can cause salt poisoning. Do not try to induce vomiting unless your veterinarian tells you to.

Do not try to make your pet vomit; if needed, the vet will do it at the clinic. Bring the packaging with you.

This is general guidance and does not replace a veterinary examination. Ask your veterinarian for a plan tailored to your pet.
