CautionAsk your vetPlant

Especially affected animals: Cat, Dog

Why it is dangerous

Essential oils in geraniums, such as linalool and geraniol, can cause digestive signs and skin irritation. Signs are usually mild and temporary.

Possible signs

  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Loss of appetite
  • Lethargy
  • Redness or irritation of the skin

What to do

Remove the plant and call your veterinarian right away to describe the situation; the vet will tell you whether an examination is needed. Do not try to induce vomiting and do not give any medication unless your vet tells you to.

Do not try to make your pet vomit; if needed, the vet will do it at the clinic. Bring the packaging with you.

This is general guidance and does not replace a veterinary examination. Ask your veterinarian for a plan tailored to your pet.
