Corn cob

SeriousCall us; the vet will adviseOther

Especially affected animals: Dog

Why it is dangerous

Corn cobs are not toxic; however, pieces of cob swallowed by dogs can get stuck in the intestines and cause a blockage.

Possible signs

  • Repeated vomiting
  • Loss of appetite
  • Lethargy
  • Abdominal pain

What to do

Make a note of how much your dog swallowed and call your veterinarian immediately to explain the situation. If vomiting, loss of appetite or lethargy begins, do not wait. Do not try to induce vomiting unless your veterinarian tells you to.

Do not try to make your pet vomit; if needed, the vet will do it at the clinic. Bring the packaging with you.

This is general guidance and does not replace a veterinary examination. Ask your veterinarian for a plan tailored to your pet.
